Why is it that some people pay $10 a month where as some other pay as far as $80 a month for a gym membership. As it turns out it depends on the individual choice and factors such as family, convenience and equipment. I have had a chance to visit a number of gyms in my neighborhood and here are my findings.
1- Distance to gym
The close you live to your gym the better. If you had to drive any more than 20 min to be in the gym, chances are you will skip you workout. The closer the gym either to your home or your work the higher the chances that you will do workout
Pricing of a gym may be a concern to many. In general people always prefer the most cost effective option, however you have to realized that your monthly membership will effects your gym outlook. There is a gym in my neighborhood that requires $10 monthly but it is missing barbell. Now there is another gym 20 mins away from me that was also $10 monthly but the overall design of the gym is not as welcoming as of others.
3- People you workout with
It is important to understand that people around you can have a big effect on your workout. If all depends on your goals. If you are a body builder or an athletic you need a more serious environment, if you plan on staying fit you can be in a more relaxed environment. I personally hate when people jump on their cell phone in the mids of their workout, making others wait so that they can finish off with their text or tweet. But keep in mind when you sign up for a gym, be very serious about your goals and do not let others influence your workout.
To finish off I would like to let you know that it is important to be in shape for yourself and your family. I would recommend to have a mindset before you hit the gym and ignore any external factors that may stop you from reaching your goals.
